 The US universities offer Bachelors, Masters, PhD and Internship programs for international students.

There are three terms available for students to enrol for programs – Fall (August intake), Spring (January intake) and Summer (May intake).

 While applying for Bachelors, one can start applying during grade 12. For masters, one can apply in his/ her final year of degree.

 STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. STEM programs refer to academic disciplines and fields of study that fall within these categories.

A graduate degree from STEM designated program gives us 3 years OPT status which is otherwise given for 1 year.

  • Letters of Recommendation

Most of the colleges in USA are accepting 3-year bachelor degree.

Scholarships depend on the complete profile of application which include Academic Excellence, Extracurricular Activities, Research and Publications, Language Proficiency, Admission Essays, Statement of Purpose and Letter of Recommendation. In USA on F1 Student VISA one can work for 20hrs/ week within the campus of University.

Working off campus is illegal for international students. However, once a student completes one year of full time academic program, he/she can apply for CPT (Curricular Practical Training). Upon getting a CPT status one can opt for part-time (up to 20 hours per week) or full-time during regular school breaks and vacations. Full-time CPT is allowed during the summer semester for students not enrolled in classes, and part-time CPT can be used during the academic year.

It is mandatory to write any one of the English proficiency tests (IELTS, TOEFL, Duolingo, PTE). IELTS and TOEFL are preferred by all universities when compared to other tests. Though standardized tests like GRE/GMAT/SAT are optional in some Universities, they help in enhancing the application.

Home based exams are no more entertained by good colleges in the USA. It is always advised to take a centre-based exam as that rules out the probability of getting questioned on malpractices that may take place in home-based tests during VISA interview and Immigration.

IELTS above 6.5 (with individual band score above 6) and TOEFL above 90 (with individual band score above 20) scores are good. Not all universities are particular about individual band scores but many good colleges do consider.

CPT is generally limited to the duration of the student’s academic program. Optional Practical Training (OPT), allows for more flexibility after graduation. OPT provides additional work authorization for practical training and is typically used after completing the academic program.

There are three types of assistantships that are given to a student – Graduate Assistantships, Teaching Assistantships and Research Assistantsh Every University reserves right to offer these assistantships based on the profile of student who is applying.

The student need to accept the admission and request for I20. Upon receiving I20 one can book the VISA date.
